Where do you think you’re going with that ring?! Jane Austen House Museum Buys Back Historical Jewel From Kelly Clarkson

On Monday, a British museum announced how a campaign they started raised enough money to buy back a ring from pop singer, Kelly Clarkson.

Last year, Clarkson attended an auction and purchased the ring for 150,000 pounds or $227,000 in U.S. dollars.  The British government attempted to stop Clarkson from taking it out of the country with no prevail.

The gold and turquoise ring was once in the possession of 19th century novelist, Jane Austen, author of infamous novels like “Pride and Prejudice.” Being only one of three surviving jewelries of the author, it’s a very valuable piece to many fans of Austen.

The campaign raised 100,000 pounds from support of Austen fans and anonymous donors.

Now, it has the permission to retrieve the jewelry for the former “American Idol” contestant who won first-place over a decade ago.

According to Fox News, the museums’ curator stated, “”The museum has been stunned by the generosity and light-footedness of all those who have supported our campaign.”

However, the singer doesn’t seem too disappointed in losing such a historical piece of jewelry.

NY Daily News reported Clarkson saying: “”The ring is a beautiful national treasure and I am happy to know that so many Jane Austen fans will get to see it at Jane Austen’s House Museum.”

As long as your royal highness is happy, we’re happy!

You definitely won this one Britain but think next time before you auction your most prized possessions. They might just get bought out by a foreigner.
