How refreshing is this story? A pit bull in the press for doing something good for a change! A sweet lovable pooch of a pal actually saved his owner, a woman, from her burning Long Island home Friday by barking as the flames began to erupt! The woman was alerted and able to safely exit the home!
Jackie Bonasera said she was blow drying her hair in upstairs bathroom when she heard her pit bull barking in an unusual and manic manner. She ran downstairs to discover Flames engulfing the entire side of her house! Because of her canine friend’s barking, she was able to get out of there alive!
“I ran out of the house and my neighbors came running over, and then I thought about the dog – I’m like, ‘He saved my life, I have to save his,’” Bonasera recounted.
“So I just put my robe over my face and I ran back in and I grabbed the dog and then I stood out here and I watched my house burn,” she said.
How heartwarming is this? Bonasera believes she would have been trapped upstairs if the dog, named Cain, hadn’t alerted her to the fire. Finally some good press for pit bulls! It’s about time!
Bonasera’s daughter, Alexus Stallworth, said Cain is “the town hero.”
“He’s a pit bull, too,” said Stallworth. “They have such bad reps, but he’s such a good boy.”
Trust me folks, this was no small garden-variety fire, this sucker took 70 firefighters to extinguish it’s hell and fury flames.
Owner and best friend are said to be resting comfortably at a friends’ home.
