Kanye baby mama? With their first kid on the way, Kanye West is “on a high” and beyond “thankful” he’s about to father a child with Kim Kardashian, and you gotta love this new, unexpected side of Kanye!

Kanye’s just on a high right now, he’s happy, fortunate and very thankful,” a source close to the 35-year-old rapper tells HollywoodLife.com. “It’s a new year now and he’s got a lot to be thankful for and a whole lot to look forward.

“Right now, he’s just taking it one day at a time but loving every minute of life. He’s crazy about Kim and now that they’re about to have a baby, it’s overwhelming!”

Kanye spilled the beans at his concert on December 30 in Atlantic City, announcing to the crowd that he and his reality TV star girlfriend are expecting a child. Our sources told us that when Kim first told him the news, he dropped to his knees, kissed Kim’s stomach and began crying. We’re told Kanye is still on an emotional high. So sweet!

“He’s cooled down some though because when Kim first told him, he was on a crazy high,” our source reveals. “He couldn’t believe it. And now that time has passed, he’s still on a high. He’s just excited for this new chapter in his life and he couldn’t be prouder to be sharing it with Kim. I know he wishes his mom was here to be part of his moment. It’s sad but he’ll be allright. He’s going to love that kid like you wouldn’t believe.”

Long before Kanye even knew he was going to be a father, he knew how he wanted to raise his child! In his song New Day, the rapper gives some insight into the kind of father he will be. HL.

Kanye writes, “And I’ll never let my son have an ego / He’ll be nice to everyone, wherever we go / I mean, I might even make ‘em be Republican / So everybody know he love white people / And I’ll never let ‘em leave his college girlfriend / And get caught up with the groupies in the whirlwind.”
