Neil Diamond must be scratching his head and maybe even feeling a little lucky today as it was announced that his huge classic hit, “Sweet Caroline,” has been deemed inappropriate and will no longer be played at Penn State football games.
Penn State fans attending home games would regularly engage in a sign-along, “touching me, touching you,” but for some strange reason that bit has been cut from all future games, reports TMZ.
But here’s the thing, tons of pro and college teams — most famously the Boston Red Sox – use the song … which Diamond has said was inspired by a photo of a then 11-year old Caroline Kennedy with her pony. Said TMZ.
Personally, I think Neil is counting his blessing about now.
