Thanks to the drought and water bans, so many yards across America that were once a rich green color, have turned into yellow, dry and crunchy fire-prone yards. But what if there were a way around it?

What if you forgot to turn your yard sprinkler off, and got ticketed for doing so? Getting a ticket for watering your own grass sounds absurd, so why not figure out another way to keep your garden and grass afloat?

Thanks to a man in Indianapolis, you may not have to even ponder a plan! Timothy Birdwell threw his hands up after dealing with his lawn problems, and that’s when the light bulb went off in his head.

Birdwell started painting his lawn, just like football fields. It’s a latex paint you spray on your lawn, and still lets your grass grow and it actually protects it as well. The paint fades like hair color, lasting about 4 months, and then you just retouch it says Birdwell.

But is it worth the time and money? The paint runs about $150 a gallon, which will cover about 2,000 to 4,000 square feet.

Birdwell, who owns his own paint business, failed to mention if the paint is flammable, and did not explain how you actually paint your lawn. We guess that’s where his business comes in and does the painting for you!
