1,200 Pelicans Found Dead On Peru Beaches

LIMA, Peru – over 1,200 pelicans on Peru’s northern beaches have been found dead, it is the same area where at least 900 dolphins were also recently found dead.

Over the past 10 days about 1,200 dead pelicans have died along a 105-mile (170-kilometer) stretch of Peru’s coastline and the problem is not limited to pelicans, hundreds of other dying or dead species of birds have also dotted the beaches.

Puerto Eten Fishermen’s Association president Francisco Ñiquen told Fox News. Imarpe Authorities theorize possible causes of death ranging from viruses to a mining exploration in the Pacific Ocean.
