Disqualified, Miss Universe Canada contestant Jenna Talackova, who was nixed as a contestant for being transgender and not a ‘born female’, has hired infamous lawyer Gloria Allred to help her deal with what has became a possible lawsuit. The duo has claimed that the pageant should be reconsider Talackova’s disqualification, as it is ‘discrimination’ that she was disqualified for being a ‘transgender’ and not a ‘real woman’.
1×1.trans Nixed Transgender Miss Universe Gets Reconsidered, But May Sue Pageant Instead!Over the weekend, Talackova and Allred scheduled a press conference for today Tuesday, and just yesterday, Miss Universe E.V.P. Michael Cohen rushed to put out a statement saying that Talackova ‘would be’ given another chance, but only under certain circumstances.
Cohen’s statement said, “The Miss Universe Organization will allow Jenna Talackova to compete in the 2012 Miss Universe Canada pageant provided she meets the legal gender recognition requirements of Canada, and the standards established by other international competitions.”
Talackova, 23, went through hormone therapy at 14, and became a full woman at 19-years-old, but is that going to fulfill the requirements to get back in the pageant? What will the process be to determine if she’s a woman or not? What are Canada’s requirements of being a woman?
