Today, Apple’s board of directors granted Steve Jobs a medical leave of absence so he can focus on his health.
Jobs sent out an email to all Apple employees and said that he is still going to be CEO of Apple and he will still be involved in “major strategic decisions” for the company, but has asked Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook to be responsible for all of Apple’s day-to-day operations.

Jobs stated, “I have great confidence that Tim and the rest of the executive management team will do a terrific job executing the exciting plans we have in place for 2011. I love Apple so much and hope to be back as soon as I can.”
2 years ago, Jobs went on medical leave for a liver transplant. In 2004, Jobs had surgery to remove pancreatic cancer. People are worried that cancer has come back to him.
