Location, location, location! Talk about beach front realty! This stretch of beach in Sidon Lebanon is home to a huge garbage dump that constantly overflows into the Mediterranean sea. Massive portions of the dump routinely collapse into the ocean and if that wasn’t bad enough, its location seats the stench next to schools, homes and hospitals.
Fish and other sea life are subjected to the toxic trash as they try and feed and then fishermen fish the waters, as seen in these pictures, I don’t know who in their right mind would want to eat the fishy byproduct of this waste of space. There is also a booming scavenger hunting trade as products are recovered from the water and sold at local markets.
Rubbish, from the mountainous rubbish lay on the beach.
A scavenger sifts through garbage from the rubbish dump for sale at market.
