Neil Young Given MusiCares Honor

The Recording Academy has named rocker Neil Young the MusiCares Person of the Year.  The Canadian legend will be honored at a charity event two days before the Grammy’s.

The MusiCares award honors musicians who dedicate their lives to helping others.  They are also generally given a tribute during the Grammy’s ceremony.  Young is the co-founder of Farm Aid, which helps family farms across the country. As well, he has dedicated many concerts and benefits to charitable causes.

Recording Academy head Neil Portnow said this of Neil Young: “Neil has set a standard of artistic integrity and iconoclastic creativity for more than four decades, and his achievements have been matched by his unwavering humanitarianism. He is a shining example of how music people offer their creative gifts to the world, and how they also give back through their commitments to charitable endeavors.”

Neil Young is one of those talented artists who gracefully ages with integrity.  The fact that he still helps others at this point in his career and life is honorable.  Hats off to Mr. Young!

Meg White got hitched!

Meg White, drummer for the White Stripes,  married guitarist Jackson Smith, son of singer/songwriting legend,Patti Smith, in Nashville last weekend.

The ceremony was one part of a double wedding which also featured the nuptials of fellow musician Jack Lawrence of the Raconteurs and his girlfriend Jo McCaughney.The quaint affair took place in the backyard of Jack White’s Nashville home.

Hipsters across the world rejoiced. The biggest question is: What lucky band played the wedding?

If Cover Girl was smart they’d start entering the “Gaga” realm and do some eccentric and futuristic glamour poses with this girl in commercials.  You don’t have to like it but u can’t deny she’s creative and original- and a showstopper.

Eminem skewers all of Hollywood in his new video, “We Made You,” off his album, Relapse (out May 19).

In the clip (which premiered Tuesday on MTV), the rapper mocks a curvier Jessica Simpson in her daisy dukes. He also sports a growing booty as Kim Kardashian.

Also not spared: Britney Spears, Sarah Palin (who sports a bustier and her famous glasses) and Lindsay Lohan.

“There’s some celebrity bashing in it,” Eminem told MTV News. “I wanna say it’s not necessarily intentional bashing in it; it’s not necessarily taking deliberate shots at people…Yes, it is. What the f— am I talking about?”

Chris Issak Gets His Own Late Night Music Show

CNN interviewed Chris about his new late night television spot   His new show finds him in late-night territory as he interviews and performs with fellow musicians like Trisha Yearwood, Michael Buble’ and Smashing Pumpkins.

CNN: What do you like about interviewing musicians?

Chris Isaak: Well, for one thing, I get to meet a lot of musicians … that I really admire. Glen Campbell is somebody who I grew up watching on TV, and I always thought he was talented. And there I am, jamming with Glen Campbell!

[Trisha] Yearwood, Stevie Nicks, Michael Buble’, Chicago, Cat Stevens, Smashing Pumpkins … Every week was like Christmas for me. Well, a terrifying Christmas, because I had to interview people, and I was always worried that I wouldn’t be prepared. But we share a lot of the same background.

CNN: But you still had to do your homework, didn’t you?

Isaak: I did, because I don’t want to be that guy that goes on TV and goes, ” ‘Caught in the Flames’ … that’s a funny name for the title of an album.” And they go, “My family burned to death in that fire.” And you go, “Oh, I guess I should’ve read the notes.”

“Rihanna, accompanied by some pals, first went to an early showing of Tyler Perry’s Madea Goes to Jail in Santa Monica” an eyewitness tells Life & Style. “She looked beautiful. She was wearing glasses, so you couldn’t see her eyes, but she looked fine to me. ”

After the movie, Rihanna hit up the Hollywood Hills for a birthday party in her honor. “People were scrambling at her feet to make sure her every wish was granted.

Katy Perry Finally Dishes On Her Ex

Katy Perry’s break-up with Gym Class Heroes star Travis McCoy continues to get messier – the pop star has warned others about dating her ex. The couple split at Christmas after romancing for much of last year, and it wasn’t all amicable – as McCoy proved with a post on his website, in which he revealed the pair had been arguing for weeks.

He wrote, “We fight every night, now that’s not kosher. I reminisce with bliss of when we was closer. And wake up to be greeted by an argument again, You act like you’re 10.”

Perry has refused to hit back until now – during a show at Los Angeles’ Wiltern Theatre on Saturday, the “I Kissed A Girl” rook a shot at her former lover’s commitment issues. She said, “Girls, if you have ever dated a boy – specifically the lead singer from Gym Class Heroes – don’t do it! Boys should have a heart. You know what I mean girls? Boys just want the milk, but they don’t want to buy the cow.”
