Sergeant Smith with the N.C. Highway Patrol told Sandhills Sentinel that Rouse drove off the side of the road and overcorrected, causing her to lose control of the pickup.
The truck overturned several times, and Rouse was ejected from the vehicle. Smith confirmed that Rouse was not wearing a seatbelt and that speed contributed to the crash.
Authorities blocked access to the area while troopers investigated the fatal wreck and crews cleared the scene.
