WASHINGTON, D.C. (THECOUNT) — The Washington, D.C., home of Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., was searched by federal agents early Monday as part of an ongoing criminal investigation, with Fox News Digital reporting that the probe concerns allegations involving the congresswoman’s immigration paperwork.
The search was conducted by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI), the investigative arm of the Department of Homeland Security. A Department of Justice spokesperson confirmed that agents executed a judicially authorized search warrant in the Washington area.

“Today in the Washington, DC, area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” the spokesperson told Fox News Digital. “This enforcement action is part of an ongoing federal investigation.”
Fox News Digital, citing a source familiar with the matter, reported that investigators are examining immigration paperwork allegedly completed by Omar’s late father when she was a child. Authorities have not publicly detailed the evidence sought or announced charges against the congresswoman in connection with the search.
The development follows remarks last month by White House border czar Tom Homan, who said Omar was the subject of an ongoing criminal investigation.
Omar, a Somali-born American lawmaker first elected to Congress in 2018, represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis. The search and the existence of an investigation do not establish criminal wrongdoing.
Washington, D.C., is the nation’s capital, located along the Potomac River between Maryland and Virginia. Omar represents a district centered on Minneapolis in Hennepin County, Minnesota.
