CHICAGO, IL. (THECOUNT) — Chicago rapper BloodHound Q50, 22, whose real name was Mikquale T. Cooper, was fatally shot during an early-morning ambush at a gas station in the Fuller Park neighborhood, with the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office ruling his death a homicide.
Authorities said he was sitting behind the wheel of a white Tesla at a BP gas station in the 4200 block of South Wentworth Avenue around 4 a.m. Sunday when multiple masked gunmen allegedly approached in two vehicles and opened fire.

According to reports, a black Infiniti carrying two masked people pulled alongside the Tesla. A silver Honda Accord carrying four additional people reportedly arrived at another pump around the same time.
Cooper had reportedly entered the gas station with a 29-year-old female passenger. After the woman returned outside, she drove the Tesla toward the store entrance, exited the vehicle and allowed Cooper to take the driver’s seat.
That was when the alleged gunmen reportedly surrounded the Tesla and began shooting. Two suspects from the Infiniti and four others from the Honda allegedly opened fire, striking Cooper in the chest and shoulder.
Chicago Fire Department personnel responded to the scene, but Cooper was pronounced dead at approximately 4:35 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.
The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office later determined that Cooper’s official cause of death was multiple gunshot wounds. The manner of death was ruled a homicide.
The alleged attackers fled the scene in the two vehicles. Police said nearby buildings and other vehicles were also damaged by the gunfire.
No arrests had been announced as of the latest reports. The investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not publicly disclosed a motive for the shooting.
Cooper performed under the name BloodHound Q50 and was associated with Chicago’s drill-rap scene. His death came just days after the release of his new single, “Too Stuck.”
According to research accompanying the report, “Too Stuck” was released September 9, 2026. As of this writing, the song’s official YouTube video had received approximately 479,675 views and was listed at No. 25 on YouTube’s Music Trending chart.
The timing of the release has drawn attention from fans and music followers as tributes spread online following the rapper’s death. Cooper had recently celebrated his 22nd birthday and had continued releasing music in the weeks before the fatal shooting.
Fuller Park, a South Side Chicago neighborhood is located near the city’s major expressway and several densely populated residential and commercial areas. The BP station is situated along South Wentworth Avenue in the area commonly identified as the 4200 block.
