WINDSOR, CT. (THECOUNT) — Frank Jason Mute, 22, has been identified as the victim of a fatal crash Tuesday morning on Interstate 91 in Windsor, Connecticut.
According to Connecticut State Police, the collision occurred on Interstate 91 South just before Exit 35B at approximately 11:15 a.m.

Investigators said Mute, of Meriden, was operating a 2012 Mercedes-Benz C300 in the center lane when the vehicle struck the rear of a 2020 Volvo VN tractor-trailer.
State police said the tractor-trailer was being driven by a 31-year-old New Jersey man.
Mute suffered serious injuries in the collision and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured, according to authorities.
The crash occurred on Interstate 91, one of Connecticut’s primary north-south transportation corridors. The highway runs through the center of the state and connects communities from the Long Island Sound region to the Massachusetts border.
Windsor is located in Hartford County just north of Hartford and is one of Connecticut’s oldest municipalities. The area surrounding Exit 35B serves both local and regional traffic traveling through the Hartford metropolitan area.
Meriden, where Mute resided, is located approximately 25 miles south of Windsor in New Haven County. The city sits at the crossroads of several major transportation routes and is part of central Connecticut’s heavily traveled highway network.
The Volvo VN involved in the collision is a commercial tractor commonly used in freight transportation throughout the United States. Interstate 91 routinely carries substantial volumes of commercial truck traffic in addition to passenger vehicles traveling through Connecticut and New England.
Connecticut State Police remained at the scene following the collision as troopers documented evidence and conducted a preliminary investigation into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Authorities have not released additional information regarding factors that may have contributed to the collision.
The crash remains under active investigation.
State police are asking anyone who witnessed the collision or who may have dashcam footage from the area at the time of the crash to come forward.
