SUTTER COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Francisco Javie Jauregui, of Yuba City, California, has been identified as the suspected drunk driver in a Monday night crash that killed a young mother and her 16-month-old baby in Sutter County.

Jauregui, 43, was arrested following a Yuba City crash that killed a 25-year-old Colusa woman and her 16-month-old son on Monday night. A 15-year-old boy was seriously injured in the wreck.

According to reports, Jauregui was operating a Chevrolet pickup truck on Route 20 near Acacia Avenue around 10 p.m. Monday, when he crossed centerlines and came into head on contact with a Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by the young mother.

Following the wreck, Jauregui attempted to fell the scene on-foot. He was taken into custody by CHP deputies a short time later.

The young woman and her baby were killed in the crash. The teen was transported to an area hospital in unknown condition.

Jauregui was charged with DUI causing injury or death, gross vehicular manslaughter, attempting to flee the scene of an injury crash and child endangerment.

Jauregui was found to be two and a half times the legal limit of alcohol.
