We are now learning Kellie Pickler, Jacobs’ wife, became concerned after she awoke and couldn’t locate him. According to reports, Pickler found an upstairs bedroom door which was locked from the inside. She then placed a call to 911 after failing to gain access to the room. Police arrived, breached the door and found Jacobs deceased of gunshot injuries.

Jacobs and Pickler wed in 2011. The couple appeared in reality show, “I Love Kellie Pickler” for 3 seasons; the show launched in 2015.

Jacobs was a songwriter who worked with several superstars, including Tim McGraw, Kelly Clarkson and Garth Brooks.

Metro Nashville Police Department Spokesperson Don Aaron issued a statement around 6:30 p.m. on Friday.

The statement said that Nashville Department of Emergency Communications received a 911 call at 1:21 p.m. Friday from the couple’s residence and that officers and Nashville Fire Department personnel responded and found Jacobs, 49, deceased from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in an upstairs bedroom/office.

The statement continued:

“Mr. Jacobs’ wife, Kellie Pickler, reported that she awoke a short time earlier, did not see her husband and began looking for him. After she and her personal assistant were unable to open the door to the upstairs bedroom/office, the assistant telephoned 911.”
