MIDDLESEX COUNTY, NJ. (THECOUNT) — Max Spivak, of Old Bridge, New Jersey, has been identified as the Rutgers University student killed Thursday in a wrong-way hit-and-run vehicle crash in Middlesex County. The wrong-way driver, 42-year-old Nageswar Polamuri, of Wood Bridge, New Jersey was arrested.

Spivak, 21, a Rutgers student athlete, was killed in a two-vehicle crash near Rutgers early Thursday morning.

According to reports, Polamuri was operating a vehicle the wrong-way on NJ-18 near the Piscataway and New Brunswick border around 1 a.m. Thursday, when the vehicle came into head-on contact with a vehicle operated by Spivak, who then fled the scene.

Spivak was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries suffered in the wreck.

Polamuri was later located and charged with second-degree leaving the scene of a fatal motor vehicle crash.
