FLATHEAD COUNTY, MT. (THECOUNT) — Desirea Garrera, of Beacon, New York, has been identified as the driver in a Saturday morning fatal vehicle-versus-pedestrian DUI hit-and-run in Flathead County, Montana.

Garrera, 25, who according to social media had recently relocated to Montana, is facing felony charges of vehicular homicide while under the influence after allegedly fatally striking a pedestrian in Kalispell early Saturday morning.

According to reports, Garrera was operating a vehicle on East Idaho Street near 7th Avenue East North in Kalispell, when she struck a pedestrian and then fled the scene around 3 a.m. Saturday.

The victim, who was not immediately identified, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries.

Police later located Garrera and the involved vehicle. She was transported to the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office before being placed in county jail on a no-bond order.

The fatal collision incident under investigation.
