PEORIA COUNTY, IL. (THECOUNT) — 12 people were shot Sunday morning in Peoria County, Illinois on Sunday morning.

The shooting, which injured 12 people, occurred on Peoria’s Riverfront Sunday morning.

According to Peoria officials, at least two of the injured were shot in the neck during a shooting at a gathering of at least 200 people. None of the injuries were believed to be life-threatening.

Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of Water and Hamilton in Peoria, around 4:45 a.m. Sunday. On arrival, police found multiple people suffering from gunshot injuries.

Two of the victims were transported to area hospitals. A majority were transported by private vehicles.

Two victims were listed in serious condition, both with gunshot wounds to the neck.

The cause of the shooting remains under investigation.
