PACKER TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — Daniel Scalise, of Hazleton, Pennsylvania, has been identified as the victim in a fatal single-vehicle crash in Packer Township, Carbon County, early Sunday morning.
Scalise, 21, was killed in a single-vehicle crash on Pennsylvania 93 near Weatherly early Sunday morning.

According to officials, Scalise was operating a Ford Escape on PA-93 near Ochre Mill Road, when for unknown reasons, he lost control in a curve, crossed centerlines and exited the roadway around 1 a.m. Sunday. The vehicle then traveled down an embankment before making contact with a substantial tree.
State police said Scalise was wearing a seatbelt.
Scalise, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene of blunt force trauma injuries, state police said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
According to social media, Scalise, originally from Camden, New Jersey, formerly attended Hazleton AreaHigh School where he played on the football team.
