EDELSTEIN, IL. (THECOUNT) — Michael R. Ladd, of Chillicothe, Illinois, has been identified as the suspect charged following a fatal ATV crash near Edelstein Friday night.

“Mic” Ladd, 28, was charged with aggravated driving under the influence, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office, after a 20-year-old Chillicothe man was killed when the Polaris Razor rolled over across a field.

According to officials, deputies responded around 11:40 p.m. on reports of an ATV rollover crash in the area of Centerville Road & Centerville Road in Edelstein, Peoria, IL.

Ladd allegedly lost control of the vehicle which had been operating in inclement weather, the sheriff said.

The victim, who has not been identified pending family notification, was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries.

Ladd was transported to an area hospital due to his injuries suffered in the crash.

A subsequent investigation indicated that alcohol played a role in the accident, the sheriff said.

Ladd was cited for aggravated DUI and reckless operation of all-terrain vehicle, reports PJStar.

Ladd, who remained in hospital as of Saturday morning, was given a notice to appear later in court on the charges.

The accident will continued to be investigated by Sheriff’s Office and Coroner’s Office.
