WINSTON-SALEM, NC. (THECOUNT) — Ajian Jones has been identified as the victim in a fatal shooting that also injured two others Tuesday night in Winston-Salem, according to reports.

Jones, 22, was found suffering from gunshot injuries following an attempted armed robbery during what officials are calling a ‘drug deal gone wrong,’ near Peachtree St in Winston-Salem on Tuesday.

Police say officers responded before 6:30 p.m. for a shots fired call at 1304 Peachtree St. Police say Charvez Brown, 25, arrived to this location to sell “a controlled substance” to Danielle Miller. Upon arrival, Brown was confronted by two men, Ajian Jones and Andres Harris in an attempted armed robbery. A gunfight broke out injuring all three men. Brown returned home before seeking medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Jones, Andres, and Miller left in the same car. Miller was later arrested early Wednesday morning, reports WXII.

Police say the car the men were traveling in was damaged by gunfire and became disabled on I-40 West near Hanes Mall Blvd.

Jones was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

Andres is expected to recover, according to officials.

Miller was charged with Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Aid and Abetting an Armed Robbery. Miller was placed in the Forsyth County Law Enforcement Detention Center under $50,000 bond with a court date of December 5, 2019, reports

More charges could be forthcoming.
