NEW CARLISLE, OK (THECOUNT) — Tecumseh High School wrestling and football star, Ryder Kinsey, has been identified as the victim killed in a Tuesday afternoon crash. Another student was critically injured in the tragic wreck.

Tecumseh police said the driver, Kinsey, 16, was killed in a single-vehicle crash while traveling on South Rangeline near Broadway in Tecumseh.

Details on the cause of the crash were not immediately provided by officials.

Kinsey’s passenger, a fellow Tecumseh student, was transported to an area hospital in critical condition.

Kinsey, a sophomore at Tecumseh High, played receiver and defensive back for the football team as well as competing on the wrestling team.

Tecumseh football coach Ty Bullock posted a tribute to Kinsey on Tuesday evening.

“We all know Ryder’s smile would light up any room and his energy was contagious,” Bullock wrote in a post on Facebook. “Small in stature but had the heart of a giant. His personality will be something I always will remember most. I’m going to miss you so much Red Ryder,” reports Oklahoman.

A memorial service for Kinsey will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at the Tecumseh High School Alumni Building.
