AMADOR COUNTY, CA. (THECOUNT) — Mark Lawrence, of Ione, California, has been identified as the victim in a fatal head-on crash near Sutter Creek on Wednesday.
The Amador County sheriff’s court security deputy, 63, was killed in a head-on crash while on his way to work, according to reports.

The crash occurred after 7:30 a.m. Wednesday morning on Highway 88 near Highway 104 in Sutter Creek, CA.
The sheriff’s office said Lawrence was in a pickup truck and was driving east on Hwy. 88 when for an unknown reason, the vehicle crossed centerlines and exited the roadway. The pickup then crashed head-on with a transfer truck, reports KCRA.
Lawrence was transported where he was later pronounced dead.
The crash is being investigated by the California Highway Patrol.
Lawrence is survived by his wife Sheri Lawrence, son Aaron Lawrence and daughter Heather Lawrence. He also has two stepchildren with his wife.
Officials said Lawrence worked for the sheriff’s office for 26 years and retired in 2010. He was sworn in as a court security deputy in 2014.
