POOLER, GA. (THECOUNT) — Georgia Stepfather, Hazel Ellison, has been identified as the shooter in a Pooler murder-suicide on Monday.

Ellison, 67, reportedly fatally shot his step son, Kevin Fields, 48, before turning the gun on himself Monday evening in Pooler.

Pooler Police say patrol units responded to a call of shots fired in the 200 block of Longleaf Circle around 5:20 p.m. Monday.

When police arrived, Fields was found deceased of apparent gunshot injuries. Ellison was then located suffering from serious gunshot injuries, according to officials.

Ellison was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead of gunshot injuries.

Evidence collected by law enforcement has led them to believe Fields was shot and killed by Ellison, his stepfather, who then turned the gun on himself, reports WJCL.

The investigation is ongoing.
