COLUMBUS, OH. (THECOUNT) — A shooting occurred near Wexner Center for the Arts on Ohio State University’s campus Sunday prompting an alarming active shooter alert to be issued to students and staff, according to reports.
The victim of the shooting has been identified as 21-year-old student Wesley N. Powers Jr.

The shooter is on the loose after opening fire on Powers for unknown reasons while on the OSU campus early Sunday morning.
Police say the shooting left Powers, a “targeted victim,” injured with a bullet wound to his thigh.
Columbus Ohio Police say the shooter fired several shots in the 1900 block of N. High Street at 1:31 a.m. near Billy Ireland Cartoon Library & Museum.
Powers Jr. then ran inside the McDonald’s and out the front door before collapsing on the sidewalk in front of the Pita Pit eatery.

OSU’s emergency management sent out an active shooter alert to students and faculty this morning that said to remain inside, reports FOX19.
Police are conducting an active search for the shooter. No description or motive in the shooting was provided.
