CAPE GIRARDEAU, MO. (THECOUNT) — Edward Palmer, of Memphis, Tennessee, has been identified as the victim fatally shot following an argument in Cape Girardeau, Missouri on Sunday.

Palmer, 34, was fatally shot early Sunday after a fight with another man in Cape Girardeau on Sunday.

24-year-old Charles Selvy Jr. is in custody after opening fire on the Tennessee man who was killed in Cape Girardeau during a weekend verbal altercation that turned violent.

The men were involved in a verbal confrontation that eventually escalated to a physical fight. Police say Palmer was shot during the confrontation.

Reports say, Selvy was arrested and charged with second-degree murder and armed criminal action. His bond was set at $750,000, reports Fox13Memphis.

Palmer was pronounced dead at the scene of gunshot injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.
