LAKESIDE, CA. (THECOUNT) — A body has been located in the search for California hiker, Thomas Mark Castiglia, who went missing while visiting the San Diego area with a group of friends.
Police say a body was located Sunday morning near El Cajon Mountain one day after Castiglia went missing. According to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the body was found near El Monte Road.

Authorities have not officially confirmed the identity of the body found.
According to the department, Castiglia started hiking to Lunch Rock with a group around 8:30 a.m.
“Castiglia told several other hikers he would be hiking at a slower pace advising the group not to wait up for him,” News10 reported.
Castiglia is an experienced hiker with no known medical conditions, according to the department.
He was last seen wearing a black sweater, black shorts, a green hat and was carrying a green backpack with blue hiking poles.
