CATAWBA COUNTY, NC. (THECOUNT) — Rev. Scott Randolph Hammett Jr., senior pastor at Clemmons First Baptist Church, in North Carolina, has been identified as the victim in a single-vehicle crash in Catawba County on Thursday.
Hammett, 59, was operating a Honda on Interstate 40 about 12:30 p.m., when for unknown reasons, exited the roadway and struck a utility pole, according to a press release from the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

He was pronounced dead at the scene of multiple blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the violent crash. Police say it is possible Pastor suffered a medical event shortly before the crash.
The 59-year-old’s 2007 Honda Accord ran off the road to the right and collided with a light pole. He was the only one in the vehicle. Troopers are considering the possibility of a medical condition as a contributing circumstance to the collision, the press release said. source
