LIVINGSTON PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Matthew D. Wheat, of Denham Springs, LA, has been identified as the victim in a motorcycle-vs-vehicle crash Friday afternoon in Denham Springs, LA.
Wheat, 34, died in a crash while riding his motorcycle on Friday afternoon on State Highway 1019, in Denham Springs, LA, according to a release from the Louisiana State Police.

Wheat was traveling on a 2001 Honda motorcycle merging southbound on LA Hwy 1019, approaching LA Hwy 64, when he collided by a Honda CRV, driven by, Wayne Grunewald, 63, of Zachary, LA, around 5:30 p.m. Friday.
The motorcycle struck the right side of the CRV, according to LSP.
Wheat was transported to a Baton Rouge hospital, where later was pronounced dead of blunt force trauma injuries consistent with the violent crash.
Grunewald was uninjured in the crash, and investigators do not suspect that he was impaired during the crash. Troopers cited Grunewald for LRS 32:104 – Turning movements and required signals. source
Troopers are investigating to determine if impairment or speed were factors in the crash.
LSP stated a toxicology sample will be submitted to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for analysis, according to a crash report.
