KANAWHA COUNTY, WV. (THECOUNT) — Ashley Kyle, 23, of St. Albans, West Virginia, has been charged with murder in the Thanksgiving shooting death of St. Albans man Michael Eugene Ward.

Deputies say Kyle, 23, is accused of shooting Ward, 35, who later passed away at an area hospital.

Ward was shot in the head while inside a moving van, Kanawha County Sheriff’s deputies say.

Investigators say three people were inside the van when Ward, who was in the middle seat, was shot.

The shooting happened on Nov. 21 around 1:30 p.m. in the 200 block of Riverside Drive, in St Albans, WV.

The pair used to be in a relationship and had a violent history between them according to investigators.

During her arraignment last week, Kyle told our cameras that she shot Ward because he hit her children. source

Neighbors were getting ready for Thanksgiving dinner when they heard gunshots ring out.

“It was really alarming because I had my grandkids here with me and they told us to stay in the house,” said the neighbor.

Kyle’s bond was set at $500,000 cash. Her preliminary hearing is set at 3:30 p.m. Nov. 29.

Kyle was also charged with being a prohibited person with a firearm.
