BEXAR COUNTY, TX. (THECOUNT) — Jonathan Connelly, of San Antonio, has been identified as the victim shot and killed Sunday after allegedly chasing a suspected Texas car theft “for miles,” say authorities.
Connelly, 30, died Sunday as a result of a gunshot wound to the chest after the GTA suspect opened fire, striking him in the torso, according to the examiner’s office.

Jacob Gabriel, 23, was arrested and charged in Connelly’s murder moments after the deadly chase, according to the San Antonio Police Department.
Police said the theft was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Witnesses told police that a man had taken a four-door silver Kia from the EZ Buy Citgo gas station at 13550 O’Connor Road and sped off. source
According to reports, at some point, an armed Gabriel exited the vehicle and confronted his pursuers.
Police said Gabriel had fired a shot but missed one of the bystanders. When a altercation turned into a fistfight, Gabriel fired again, striking Connelly in the torso, according to reports.
Connelly was transported to an area hospital where he was later pronounced dead.
