Police have identified the teenager who died after being hit by a car Friday night as Kurtis Prosser, of Warwick, R.I. Prosser was an Alumni member of the Maniacal Mechanics 6168, a group of robotics engineers competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition.
Police say Prosser was crossing the street on West Shore Road when he was struck by a vehicle. Weather conditions, dark clothing, and poor lighting are factors in the fatal crash. Speed and driver impairment did not appear to be factors.

Prosser was transported to Rhode Island Hospital where he passed away from his injuries shortly after midnight. source
The accident occurred around 7:30 p.m. Friday in the area of 2672 West Shore Road in in Warwick, Rhode Island.
Police say criminal charges are not pending against the driver.
Prosser was listed in 2015 as a one of the people tasked with programming for an award-winning robotics team known as the Maniacal Mechanics 6168. The team won the “Block Party” and the “Ring It Up,” awards in recent years competing in the FIRST Robotics Competition.
The team’s Facebook page noted Prosser’s passing.
