A 19-year-old volunteer firefighter at the Lake Palestine East Volunteer Fire Department, has died after drowning in Lake Palestine, TX.

Zane Simons was reportedly swimming in the lake with friends when he experienced a seizure. Despite attempts to revive the young man, Zane passed away at a Tyler Hospital.

The following statement was released by the Lpevfd Fire Department:

It is with deepest sorrow that The Lake Palestine East Volunteer Fire Department reports the death of one of our Firefighters & Support Personnel, Zane Simons. Zane was 19 years old.

Zane has number members of his family that are also members of our department including his mother Shannon Childers-Simons and brother Kaiden Simons.

Zane was swimming with friends on Friday evening when he had a seizure and drowned. His brother Kaiden performed CPR and other members of the department responded to the scene to provide medical assistance, but despite attempts to revive him, Zane passed away at a Tyler Hospital.

The family will hold visitation on Monday, July 24, from 6PM – 8PM at Boren-Conner Funeral Home in Bullard. Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday at 10AM at East Lake Baptist Church in Bullard.
