Residents in the Sunshine Gardens neighborhood of South San Francisco have been warned by officials not use water for drinking or cooking after they discovered the property of an area water supplier, Cal Water, vandalized and a tank delivering drinking water to customers breached.
California Water Service issued the scary alert to customers Friday evening, informing them that there had been a breach of a storage tank that serves the area.

According to Colma police, the breach was discovered when police responded at about 10 a.m. to a report of a suspicious circumstance in the 2500 block of Hillside Boulevard, which is property owned by Cal Water. At the property, police found that the outside of a Cal Water tank had been vandalized with spray paint.
KTVU is reporting that initial tests indicated the water quality has not been compromised, but pending more extensive test results, residents have been told to use bottled water.
Test results should be provided over the next few days, according to Cal Water. Until then, the incident is under investigation with cooperation from the state Division of Drinking Water as well as local law enforcement.
