LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT) — Frankie Muniz, the former child star best known for playing the title character on Malcolm in the Middle, says the past six weeks have been a “nightmare” and that he has reached what he described as a “rock bottom” point in his life.
Muniz made the comments Friday, September 18, 2026, in a social-media post in which he opened up about a difficult period without providing specific details about everything he has been experiencing.

“The last 6 weeks of my life have been a nightmare I’m praying to wake up from,” Muniz wrote, according to Muniz’ X post.

The actor said the period had left him feeling that “everything felt heavy, unclear, and like it was falling apart at the same time.” He added that he would not wish the experience on anyone.
Muniz said the circumstances have also forced him to look closely at himself and make changes in his life.
“I’ve had nowhere to hide,” Muniz said, explaining that the experience has given him an opportunity to examine who he is beyond the version of himself presented to the public.
The actor said he is trying to use the difficult period as an opportunity for personal growth rather than allowing it to define him.
Muniz also reflected on the possibility that reaching a low point could ultimately lead to positive changes, saying he believes he may someday look back on the current period with gratitude.
“In five years I believe I’ll look back at this exact low point and feel grateful for it,” he wrote.

The comments come roughly two months after Muniz and his wife, Paige Price, announced that they were ending their marriage after 10 years together in a widely panned video posted to X. The video was since deleted.

Muniz and Price announced in July that they had separated privately before deciding to end their marriage. The couple said they intended to remain friends and continue co-parenting their son, Mauz Mosley Muniz.
The marriage announcement generated significant public attention because Muniz and Price had been together for more than a decade. The couple married in 2020 and welcomed their son in 2021.
Muniz has not said that his marriage ending is responsible for the current difficulties described in his latest post.
