HIGHLAND TWP., PA. (THECOUNT) — Daniel Clover, 54, of Strattanville, was killed early Saturday morning in a single-vehicle crash on Miola Road in Highland Township that occurred during a police pursuit, according to Pennsylvania State Police and the Clarion County Coroner’s Office.
Clarion County Coroner Dan Shingledecker identified Clover as the driver. He was pronounced dead at the scene at approximately 5:54 a.m.

The crash occurred on Miola Road between Penny Lane and McCleary Road in Highland Township, a rural community in Clarion County in western Pennsylvania.
According to a public information release from Pennsylvania State Police at Clarion, troopers were contacted at approximately 1:48 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, to assist the Clarion Borough Police Department with an investigation involving a failure to yield and a pursuit involving a vehicle.
During the incident, the vehicle involved in the pursuit crashed on Miola Road. Clover was fatally injured in the collision, while a 58-year-old female passenger also suffered injuries.
The passenger’s identity has not been released by state police.
Investigators have not released additional details regarding the circumstances that led to the pursuit, including what prompted Clarion Borough police to attempt to stop the vehicle or why the vehicle failed to yield.
The precise circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by Pennsylvania State Police and other authorities.
The coroner determined Clover died from accidental blunt force injuries sustained in the crash.
The investigation is expected to examine the events leading up to the pursuit as well as the circumstances surrounding the vehicle’s departure from the roadway and subsequent collision.
