WILLIAMSBURG, OH. (THECOUNT) — James Dale Daugherty, 46, of Hamersville, Ohio, was killed Tuesday night when he was struck from behind while riding an electric bicycle on Ohio 32 in Williamsburg, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol. The vehicle involved fled the scene and remains sought by investigators.
Williamsburg is a village in Clermont County in southwestern Ohio, east of Cincinnati and near the Brown County line. The fatal crash occurred on Ohio 32, a major east-west route serving communities throughout the region.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, the collision occurred shortly after 10:30 p.m. Tuesday on Ohio 32 in Williamsburg. Daugherty was riding a Jansno electric bicycle westbound in the right lane when he was struck from behind by a vehicle.
The impact left Daugherty fatally injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities.
The driver of the vehicle did not remain at the scene following the collision and fled, prompting the Ohio State Highway Patrol to launch a hit-and-run investigation.
Investigators are seeking a white Nissan Versa believed to be a model from approximately 2020 through 2025. Troopers said the vehicle should have significant damage to its front-right portion as a result of the collision.
State police initially described the suspect vehicle as a 2023 to 2025 white Nissan Versa before providing the broader model-year range of 2020 to 2025. Investigators are asking motorists, residents and anyone who may have been in the area around the time of the crash to be alert for a vehicle matching the description and damage pattern.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol has not identified the driver of the suspected vehicle. No arrests have been announced in connection with the fatal collision.
Troopers with the Georgetown Post are leading the investigation. Authorities have not released additional information concerning what caused the vehicle to strike Daugherty or whether investigators have located additional evidence identifying the fleeing driver.
