CLARKE COUNTY, IA. (THECOUNT)Jordan James Wilson, 22, of Des Moines, Iowa, died Wednesday after his motorcycle collided with a semi-trailer on Interstate 35 in Clarke County, according to the Iowa State Patrol. The driver of the semi was not injured.

The fatal crash occurred at approximately 5:23 p.m. Wednesday near mile marker 40, just north of Osceola.

According to the Iowa State Patrol, Wilson was operating a 2021 Honda motorcycle northbound on I-35 and was attempting to pass a trailer being pulled by a semi when the motorcycle struck the left rear side of the trailer.

Wilson suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities said the driver of the semi was not injured.

Investigators have not released additional details regarding what caused the motorcycle to make contact with the trailer. The crash remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

Interstate 35 is a major north-south transportation route through Iowa, connecting Des Moines with communities across southern Iowa and neighboring Missouri. Traffic in the area was impacted while emergency responders investigated the collision and cleared the scene.

The Iowa State Patrol has not indicated whether weather, speed, impairment, or any other contributing factors played a role in the crash.

Clarke County is located in south-central Iowa, approximately 40 miles south of Des Moines along the Interstate 35 corridor in Osceola.
