GREENE TOWNSHIP, PA. (THECOUNT) — Karl Hafner Jr., 61, of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania, was killed Saturday after being struck by a Ford Mustang while on the shoulder of Mount Pleasant Road in Greene Township, according to Pennsylvania State Police. The driver of the Mustang was injured in the crash and flown to a local hospital.
Greene Township is located in Franklin County in south-central Pennsylvania, near the Maryland border and just east of Chambersburg.

Troopers responded to the crash at approximately 12:12 p.m. Saturday on Mount Pleasant Road in Fayetteville.
According to a Pennsylvania State Police crash report, a Ford Mustang crossed over the double yellow centerline, entered the opposite lane of travel and struck Hafner, who was on the roadway shoulder.
After striking the pedestrian, the Mustang continued forward and crashed into a utility pole before coming to a stop, investigators said.
Hafner was pronounced dead at the scene by responding authorities.
The driver of the Mustang was airlifted to a local hospital for treatment. Authorities have not released the extent of the driver’s injuries.
Pennsylvania State Police continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the fatal collision. No information regarding potential contributing factors or possible charges has been released.
