SOUTH SETAUKET, NY. (THECOUNT) — Herson Almonte, 42, of Port Jefferson Station, New York, died Saturday after a single-vehicle motorcycle crash on Nesconset Highway in Lake Grove, according to Suffolk County Police.
Lake Grove is near South Setauket, a hamlet in the Town of Brookhaven in Suffolk County on Long Island, about 55 miles east of Manhattan.

According to Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives, the fatal crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. Saturday on eastbound Nesconset Highway, east of Nicolls Road.
Investigators said Almonte was operating a 2026 Kawasaki motorcycle eastbound when he lost control. The motorcycle then struck the center divider of the roadway.
Emergency responders transported Almonte to Stony Brook University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the collision.
Authorities said the motorcycle was impounded for a routine safety inspection as part of the ongoing investigation.
Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash. Officials have not indicated that any other vehicles were involved in the collision.
