WASHINGTON, D.C. (THECOUNT) — Keyon Malik Maynor, 29, was killed Wednesday in a double shooting in northwest Washington, D.C., according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
Washington, D.C., the nation’s capital, has continued to grapple with violent crime in several neighborhoods despite increased law enforcement efforts in recent months. The shooting occurred in the 1300 block of 5th Street NW.

Officers responded to the area at approximately 2:14 p.m. Wednesday after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, police located two adult men suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
Both victims were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment. Authorities said Maynor succumbed to his injuries, while the second victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was reported in stable condition.
The Metropolitan Police Department has not released information regarding a possible motive for the shooting as detectives continue to investigate.
Investigators are searching for a white Honda with red markings displaying Maryland license plate 4EV6264 in connection with the fatal shooting.
No arrests have been announced.
The fatal shooting comes as residents in the neighborhood continue expressing concerns over recurring gun violence in the area. Some neighbors told local media the community has experienced multiple shootings despite an increased law enforcement presence in recent months.

Authorities are offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible.
