Celeste Rivas Hernandez Family Signed Consent Form Allowing Her Travel Alone With D4vd

LOS ANGELES, CA. (THECOUNT)David Anthony Burke, the singer known professionally as D4vd, was ordered Monday to stand trial in Los Angeles County after a judge found sufficient evidence during a preliminary hearing in the death of Celeste Rivas Hernandez, 14.

According to testimony presented during Monday’s hearing, Celeste’s parents, Jesus Rivas and Mercedes Martinez, allegedly signed a travel consent form on Sept. 23, 2024, authorizing their daughter to travel with Burke to London from Sept. 24 through Oct. 5.

Prosecutors previously presented evidence that Burke purchased United Airlines tickets for himself and Celeste to travel to London before returning to Texas, where they allegedly visited members of Burke’s family.

At the conclusion of the hearing, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Charlaine F. Olmedo ruled that prosecutors had presented enough evidence for the case to proceed to trial.

Attorney Patrick Steinfeld, who represents the victim’s family, told reporters outside the courthouse that the family was relieved the preliminary hearing had concluded and expressed appreciation for the work performed by prosecutors and investigators.

Prosecutors allege Burke fatally stabbed Celeste inside his Hollywood Hills residence on April 23, 2025, following an argument involving his friendship with another woman.

Los Angeles Police Department robbery-homicide detective Corey Farell testified regarding text messages exchanged between Burke and the teen shortly before her death. Prosecutors allege the messages reflected tension between the two in the hours leading up to the incident.

Court documents allege Burke later dismembered and disposed of the victim’s remains using various items investigators say were purchased online, including chainsaws, cadaver bags, heavy-duty laundry bags, a shovel and cleaning supplies.

Burke has been charged in connection with the teen’s death and will now face trial in Los Angeles County Superior Court.

Los Angeles is home to the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center, where prosecutors presented evidence over five days alleging Burke maintained an illegal sexual relationship with the teen before her death in April 2025.
