DARTMOUTH, Mass. (THECOUNT) — Tristan Bedient, of Acushnet, Massachusetts, was identified as the driver killed in a two-vehicle crash Friday night on Route 6. Kate Aldrich, of New Bedford, Massachusetts, was identified as the passenger who also died in the crash. Dartmouth police, Westport police, and the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office responded to the scene. Massachusetts State Police are leading the investigation.
Bedient was 34 years old. Aldrich was 51 years old.

Bedient was driving a Toyota Camry eastbound on Route 6 in the Dartmouth area. Aldrich was riding as a passenger in the same vehicle. At approximately 7:35 p.m., officers responded to reports of a crash involving two vehicles. The Toyota Camry sustained severe damage in the collision.
The second vehicle involved in the crash carried two occupants who sustained minor injuries. Both vehicles came to rest at the scene following the impact. Bedient and Aldrich were transported to a hospital, where they were pronounced dead.
Route 6 is a major east-west highway that runs through southeastern Massachusetts. The roadway serves the towns of Dartmouth and Westport in Bristol County and carries significant local and through traffic. The crash occurred in an area where Route 6 functions as a busy commercial corridor with multiple intersections and access points.
Massachusetts State Police, along with Dartmouth and Westport police, are investigating the circumstances of the crash. The probe includes examination of the vehicles, roadway conditions, and witness statements. No arrests have been announced. Officials have not released additional details regarding the cause of the collision at this time.
