BIRMINGHAM, Ala. (THECOUNT) — Phylicia Cherea Wilson, 38, of Birmingham, Alabama, was killed in a single-vehicle crash early Friday morning on Interstate 20 in Birmingham.

Wilson was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, the crash occurred just after 2 a.m. on Friday, July 10, on I-20 westbound at the I-59 south interchange.

Wilson was the driver and only occupant of her vehicle. The Birmingham Police Department is investigating the circumstances of the crash.

Interstate 20 is a major east-west highway that runs through central Alabama and serves as a primary route through the Birmingham metropolitan area. The interchange with I-59 is one of the busiest sections of the interstate system in Jefferson County.

The Birmingham Police Department continues to investigate the cause of the crash. Officials have not released information regarding possible contributing factors such as speed, impairment, or road conditions at this time.

No other vehicles were involved in the incident. The crash remains under active investigation by Birmingham police.
