LE MARS, IA. (THECOUNT) — Dakota Acevedo has been identified as the northwest Iowa man killed in a Friday night motorcycle crash in Plymouth County. He was 33.

According to the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office, Acevedo was involved in a motorcycle crash that occurred around 10 p.m. Friday near Le Mars, Iowa.

Deputies said the crash occurred northeast of Le Mars when the motorcycle left the roadway.

Witnesses reported seeing the motorcycle accelerate before entering a curve in the roadway and leaving the roadway.

First responders arrived to find Acevedo unconscious and not breathing at the scene.

He was transported to a hospital in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, where he later died from his injuries.

No other vehicles were reported to be involved.

The crash occurred in rural Plymouth County in northwest Iowa, an area made up of farmland, county highways, and small communities including Le Mars and surrounding townships.

The roadway system in this region includes curved rural road segments and long stretches of low-traffic highways used for local travel and agricultural movement.

The incident remains under investigation by the Plymouth County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities have not released additional details regarding contributing factors in the crash.
