LAFOURCHE PARISH, LA. (THECOUNT) — Kevin Porter, 29, of Harvey, Louisiana, was killed early Monday morning after his vehicle left the roadway and struck a utility pole in Lafourche Parish, according to Louisiana State Police.
The fatal single-vehicle crash occurred around 2 a.m. Monday along Highway 308 near Valentine Drive in Lafourche Parish.

Authorities said Porter was operating a 2010 Nissan Altima southbound on Highway 308 when the vehicle traveled off the roadway to the right for reasons still under investigation.
According to Louisiana State Police, the Nissan subsequently struck a utility pole.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and Porter was pronounced dead following the collision.
No additional occupants or injuries were immediately reported.
The crash scene remained active Monday morning as investigators documented evidence and crews worked to clear the damaged vehicle from the roadway area.
Highway 308 serves as a primary route through portions of Lafourche Parish and runs alongside communities connecting Thibodaux, Lockport, and surrounding south Louisiana areas.
The area near Valentine Drive includes stretches of rural roadway bordered by drainage canals, utility infrastructure, and residential properties common throughout the bayou region.
Authorities have not yet indicated whether speed, impairment, distraction, weather conditions, or a medical event may have contributed to the deadly crash.
The Louisiana State Police investigation remains ongoing.
