CLAYTON, IL. (THECOUNT) — Joshua E. Collins, 47, of Clayton, Illinois, was identified as the victim killed in an early Monday morning UTV crash in Adams County, according to the Adams County Coroner’s Office.
The fatal single-vehicle crash occurred around 12:48 a.m. Monday near Highway 24 and West Main Street in Clayton.

According to the Adams County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to reports of an overturned UTV in the area and located one male occupant at the scene.
Authorities said Collins was pronounced dead at the scene following the crash.
Investigators confirmed Collins was the sole occupant of the UTV at the time of the collision.
According to officials, Collins was not wearing a seatbelt or helmet.
No additional injuries were reported.
The Adams County Coroner’s Office said a full examination into the death remains underway.
Emergency crews and investigators remained at the scene overnight while evidence was documented and the overturned UTV was removed from the roadway area.
Clayton is located in western Illinois in Adams County, approximately 30 miles east of Quincy.
The intersection of Highway 24 and West Main Street serves as a primary route through the small community and surrounding rural farmland areas.
Authorities have not yet released details regarding what may have caused the UTV to overturn.
Officials also have not indicated whether speed, roadway conditions, impairment, or other contributing factors may have played a role in the crash.
The Adams County Sheriff’s Office investigation remains ongoing.
