According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, Trenton Curl was operating a black 2019 Buick SUV traveling westbound on Highway 30 at the time of the crash.
Investigators said Nicholas Calhoun was driving a 2019 Jeep Wrangler eastbound on the highway.
DPS Sgt. Michael Aftosmes stated the Jeep crossed the center line for reasons that remain under investigation and entered the westbound lane.
Authorities said the Jeep then collided head-on with the Buick SUV.
Curl, Artherholt, and the unidentified 10-year-old child were occupants inside the Buick at the time of the collision.
Officials confirmed all four individuals involved in the crash were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash prompted a large overnight emergency response as DPS troopers, firefighters, EMS personnel, and crash investigators secured the highway and documented evidence at the scene.
Traffic along State Highway 30 was impacted for several hours while investigators conducted the on-scene investigation and crews removed the heavily damaged vehicles.
Authorities have not publicly released additional information regarding seatbelt use, possible impairment, speed, or weather conditions at the time of the crash.
Investigators also have not stated why the Jeep crossed into oncoming traffic.
The Texas Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the deadly head-on collision.
