LORIS, SC. (THECOUNT) — Shadazya Mitchell has died following a single-vehicle crash in Horry County, South Carolina. The fatal incident occurred near Loris and is under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.

The crash occurred Wednesday on South Highway 701 near Highway 66 in the Loris area. According to authorities, Mitchell lost control of the vehicle and struck a tree.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and reported that the vehicle overturned during the crash. Horry County Fire Rescue stated that heavy cutting tools were required to extricate the victim from the wreckage.
Mitchell sustained critical injuries and was pronounced deceased following the collision, according to Horry County Chief Deputy Coroner Tamara Willard. Officials confirmed that Mitchell was a resident of Dillon, South Carolina.
South Highway 701 is a rural corridor that runs through Horry County and connects smaller communities to larger routes leading toward the Grand Strand area. The roadway includes stretches where speeds are higher and roadside hazards, including trees and ditches, are present.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the cause of the crash. No additional details regarding contributing factors have been released.
Prior to the crash, Mitchell had publicly shared details of surviving a shooting incident in December 2024. In a social media post at that time, she stated she had been shot in the face and was recovering from her injuries. The statement was made in reference to a reported domestic violence situation.
The previously published statement, attributed to Mitchell, read in part that she had been shot in the face on December 13, 2024, and described her recovery as ongoing. The post also referenced domestic violence awareness.
No additional official details connecting the prior incident to the crash have been released by authorities.
